Continuing in my recent theme of “kicking it, old school” …
Can I be honest for a moment? I have to confess something that will probably get me a few stern talking-tos the next time I run into a few folks at church. But I have to say for one and all the following:
I do not get Carman.
Well, to be blunt about it, I’m no fan. To be even blunter, I loathe Carman. But in a friendly enough way that at least acknowledges that the guy is doing something with his gifts to make room for the kingdom. So with that, let’s just say that even in God’s kingdom, there will be Branson-style entertainment that will possibly induce me to roll my eyes or break into laughter whenever I see it.
Still, I’m watching Carman Live on TBN as I type this blog entry out. For me, it’s the equivalent of watching a NASCAR wreck. I just can’t take my eyes off of it regardless of how much I would just rather look at anything else. So I offer this week’s YouTube Tuesday on that very cheesy note.
If you see the following as inspirational, spiritual, annointed, and otherwise moving in a positive way, then God bless you. If, however, you’re like me and watching this leads to much laughter and a sense of overwhelming mercy for all those people who try to tell you that there’s no way your own music of preference could not be considered Christian … then God bless you, too.
So regardless of whether or not I see the below as bad imitation Broadway or anything else, I’ll offer some grace for all those who hold my love of all things Stryper against me.
