You Tube Tuesdays: Altar Boys

By PaulT / December 19, 2017

Something a little different for YouTube Tuesday. Instead of plastering a single video up, I thought I’d devote the day to one of my favorite Christian bands of all time: the Altar Boys. Odd history I have with the band. The first song I heard of theirs was their most commercial and least representative of their style: “You Are Loved.” But for some reason, I dug it enough to go pick up their latest CD at the time – “G.L.M.” If there’s two things I credit for helping me maintain faith despite not finding a church I felt at home at, it’s that CD as well as any CD by Stryper.

So sit back and enjoy (or don’t and just scroll through). The clips below are ripped from a DVD that I’m now more than convinced I need to procure.

I’m Into God:

When You’re A Rebel:

You Are Loved:

If I were able to find more videos on YouTube, I’d slap them up here as well. Needless to say, the band’s history wasn’t as rich as I’d have preferred (I could have used another ten albums like G.L.M., personally). There’s a reunion DVD out there as well (preview here).

Reviewing these videos, I’m reminded that I owe it to lead singer/guitarist Mike Stand for planting a seed of interest for me to want to play a telecaster. The guy just makes it look too cool and too fun.
